Triboelectric charging
Triboelectric charging is the generation of electrostatic charge when two materials contact and then separate. The amount and polarity of charge depend on the materials, environment and movement involved.
Examples in the workplace
Common examples include walking across a floor, unwinding film, removing clothing or taking a component out of plastic packaging. Control therefore involves material selection, grounding, process conditions and ionization where appropriate.
