Surface resistance

Surface resistance describes electrical resistance along the surface of a material between defined points or electrodes. It is used when evaluating work surfaces, mats, floors, packaging and other ESD materials.

How to interpret the value

The result is affected by electrode design and spacing, test voltage, electrification time and environmental conditions. Only results obtained with an appropriate method and assessed against the ESD control programme should be compared.

Related measurement: RTT.
