ESD shielding

ESD shielding protects sensitive components from electrostatic discharge and fields by means of a suitable barrier or construction. It is particularly important for packaging, storage and transport outside a protected area.

Shielding is not the same as antistatic performance

Packaging may be low charging or have a dissipative surface without providing discharge shielding. Required properties depend on the product journey, ESDS sensitivity and the environments through which the package passes.

A common solution is a shielding bag.
