Electrostatic charge
Electrostatic charge is electrical charge accumulated on the surface of a material or a person. It can be generated by walking, friction, separation of materials or handling plastic packaging.
Why charge creates a risk
A charged object produces an electrostatic field and may discharge when it approaches a different potential. In an EPA, charge generation is reduced, conductive and dissipative items are connected to a suitable ground, and insulators are neutralized by ionization where necessary.
